Inspiring the Next Generation of Independent Media in Pakistan: This project aims to support the growth of independent and diverse media in Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), by increasing the capacity of young journalists, particularly young women, in independent and conflict - sensitive reporting; and fostering an enabling environment for the professionals.

Social and Religious Tolerance Course (SRT) with Faculty in Universities – II: MTRC in collaboration with DAI Pakistan executed this project with three universities of Sindh and Punjab. A total of 23 male and 23 female faculty members along with 147 male and 140 female students were trained on social and religious tolerance course to make it part of university curricula.

The Social and Religious Tolerance (SRT) Course: A total of 24 faculty members from universities of Sindh and Punjab were sensitized on CVE, critical thinking, leadership skills, diversity, harmony, literature. The main objective is this project was to urge universities to make social and religious tolerance a part of their curricula in order to make universities violence free.

Peaceful and Safer Campuses (PSC): In 2021 MTRC commenced a project in collaboration with DAI Pakistan which aimed to train the faculty of three universities of Lahore and Multan. A total of 41 male and 51 female faculty members along with 398 male and 448 female students with advanced level training on CVE themes and critical thinking contributed to more conducive and safe campuses. They engaged their students in CVE initiatives and trained their students to enable an environment of more open discussion where opposing arguments can entertained.

Access to Information in KPK and Baluchistan. In 2014, the Media Training and Research Centre developed a course on Conflict Sensitive Journalism for all universities of KPK and Baluchistan province; trained 34 faculty members of journalism and mass communication departments of KPK (25) and Baluchistan (09) province on the course including 03 female. MTRC also prepared a training manual for working journalists of KPK and Baluchistan province on Conflict Sensitive Journalism.

Young Ambassadors – Dialogue for Peace and Reconciliation Project to strategize a Peace Plan for Pakistan & Afghanistan. A 2-day workshop program was organized for Peace and Reconciliation dialogues among Youth of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The second workshop was held in Afghanistan in December 2017 where 09 delegates from Pakistan participated in the workshop as youth ambassadors.

TV & Radio Journalism Trainings Project for KPK & FATA Journalists; 12 trainings of 6-Day Capacity Building Trainings for Journalists of KPK & FATA. 145 including 29 females, journalists benefitted from the program where they were imparted skills on Reporting, News Packages Production, Camera Work and Non-Linear Editing majorly. 28 TV and 48 Radio news packages were produced by participants.

Local Media for Local Government in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Baluchistan; Journalists were trained on understanding issues and key concepts of local government and its effective media coverage; to raise awareness and imparting required skills on reporting and importance of local governments, information on the role, responsibilities and functions of local government representatives and the role of journalists and reporters; and to provide information to journalists about the functioning of local governments, and to train them on effective monitoring of local governments.

Observed World Press Freedom Day on May 4, 2015, at Islamabad. Attended by said Vibeke Jensen, Representative / Director UNESCO Islamabad the theme of the activity was “Let Journalism Thrive! Towards Better Reporting, Gender Equality and Media Safety in the Digital Age”. The debate underscored that media could play a significant role in promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for democracy and sustainable development.

Politicians, journalists, civil society workers, lawyers, academicians, researchers were provided a platform for identification of issues and recommendations / suggestions for promotion of democracy and durable peace in the region.

The director of Media Training and Research Centre in his capacity as a head of department of journalism and mass communication produced two magazine programs named Da Nan Khabara (Today’s News, On Current Affairs) and Hawa au Dunya (Eve and the World, on Gender Awareness) which lasted for more than five years. He supervised the editorial content of these program and production.
